AS MEDIA; What next? - Maryam

Now that the opening sequence has been completed and handed in, the final thing left for me to do is the evaluation and ... THE EXAM!!!

These are the questions that we will be answering:

  1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media  products?
  2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
  3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
  4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
  5. How did you attract/address your audience?
  6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
  7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Coursework Final - Kye, Jack, Maryam and Klevis

The Guardian Movie - Jack

On our trip to the guardian, we made movies using iMovie and footage that they had given us for personal use. I think I did a good job on this movie and I enjoyed editing and using this software.

The Guardian; Practical work - Maryam

On the 2nd of March, i had the privilege of going to The Guardian. As this is part of the exam course it was very essential to attend and also gather information. In pairs we were asked to use different clips and create a story/ sequence. This is what my partner and i came up with using Imovie.

Template Change - Jack

As a group we agreed to change the background template, mainly because it was too bright and we needed to make it darker and become more of a thriller themed background. I added a dark background to bring the feeling of thriller and made orange the main font colour as it stands out ahead of the white titles and black background. I think this looks much better than before as it stands out much more and is better on the eye.

Feedback from Second Draft - Maryam, Kye , Jack, Klevis

In addition to our positive feedback, we were also given tips on what we could do to create more mystery to opening sequence.

These consisted of:

  • The music should start a second before our film ident comes in at the beginning of the sequence.
  • J cut could be used between the ident and the first clip that is played.
  •  Having objects etc at the beginning and the characters revealed towards the end i.e. Traffic shot before Maryams shot.
  • "A Trident Pictures Production" comes in later.
As a group we have taken on board al of these tips and have started making minor changes to our sequence.

Audience Feedback - Maryam

During my free time yesterday, i was able to get some audience feedback from three different groups of people about our draft. I received a lot of positive feedback which made me extremely happy. The only EBI that was said, was about the victim and the antagonist in the background. Therefore we have started to alter this shot and identify other ways in which we could get our message across. Other than that, everything is going according to plan ;)

Our 2nd draft was shown to Mr Gillett and it was a success. We still have a few bits to add and work on but it is looking good!

Cinderella Film Analysis - Maryam

I recently watched 'Cinderella' (2015) directed by Kenneth Branagh. Although I have watched it quite a number of times I was more than happy to watch the non-animated version. The scene that was really effective in my opinion is when Cinderella meets her fairy God Mother. The use of close ups and various different shots from different angles really set the mood and made you feel as though you were there. I would recommend this especially if you are a Disney fan or enjoy romance films.
