Tonight, I watched The Walk, which is directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film was very good and very well directed. I was surprised about how much effects were used.
My favourite scene was when he actually does the walk. Zemeckis uses a lot of good techniques. The scene is very tense as I have a fear of heights. He does an overhead tracking shot, which creates a sense of POV and it also gives the audiences an idea of the weight of the task that Petit is doing.
CGI is used very effectively to recreate a 70's New York. https://vimeo.com/147657847. This video is a VFX breakdown of the effects in the film. It is a very interesting watch.
